Within the Retreat programs, family counseling is an integrated part of treatment. Substance use disorders not only the abuser, but everyone in contact with him or her - it affects the entire family and social network. Family counseling starts at the beginning of treatment and is central to the discharge plan. Depending upon the individual family situation, sessions may be scheduled at any point during the treatment program.

The Retreat Family therapy involves a whole family, or several family members. Family therapy can be helpful if a family is having problems getting along. It can also be used when one family member has a problem, and family relationships may be contributing to or maintaining the problem.
